Antique 1880-1925 Berndorf Krupp Austria Art Nouveau Silverplate Fruit Bowl Centerpiece Cut Glass Tray RARE - See Description for Issues

This wonderful and rare decorative Art Nouveau design fruit bowl centerpiece has a circular glass bowl with raised reeded panels, a center loop handle with leafy baluster support, on a conforming column and shaped circular foot. The piece has not been cleaned and has a lovely darkened patina. The mark refers to Alpacca-Silber II, abbreviated to A S II, which can be seen below the walking bear. Above the bear is B followed by MF conjoined for Berndorfer Metallwarenfabrik. This mark was used from about 1880-1925, which dates the piece during that time period. The piece measures a total of 15” tall; the glass tray measures 11” in diameter. The top loop handle screws off and the glass can be removed and cleaned, and the item will be shipped with the pieces apart. The entire piece is rather heavy and will require double boxing for safety, hence the higher shipping costs. CONDITION (PLEASE READ): The glass tray is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There is a 1” split on one side of the bottom column below the glass as shown. Also, the glass tray sits slightly off kilter (which wasn’t noticeable to me until I was photographing it). This could easily be remedied by slipping a thin piece of something clear between the glass and the stand to balance it. These two condition items account for the lower price than this piece would normally bring. Sorry, no returns for this item. Fruit is not included—ha! NOTE: Shipping to USA only.
