Antique EAPG Pedestal Compote Bowl – UV Reactive Victorian Glass c.1890s

This antique pedestal compote bowl dates to the height of Victorian table design, when pressed glass was both decorative and functional. Elevated on a sculpted stem with a wide footed base, the bowl was designed to command attention at the center of the table—ideal for displaying fruit, sweets, or confections during formal gatherings. The bowl features a softly scalloped rim and bold radiating fan panels surrounding a geometric center medallion, creating strong light play and texture. Under ultraviolet light, the glass emits a soft green glow caused by manganese used as a clarifier in glassmaking prior to World War I, confirming its 19th–early 20th century origin. Elegant yet approachable, this compote works equally well styled in a Victorian or Americana interior, layered into a glass collection, or repurposed as a decorative centerpiece or catchall.
