This item is a gorgeous vintage or antique Turkish flat-woven Kilim prayer rug originating from Anatolia, Turkey. I
believe it to be antique from the overall feel and look of the kilim.
Approx 67 by 44 inches.
There are several areas where just the white string is showing. see photos. you could have repaired or leave as is.
This kilim is AS IS. I do have a 7 day let me know and return the item for a full refund with buyer paying to ship back.
So please look at the photos closely. I can send more photos or videos if needed .
I’m not an expert in rugs or textiles. I have worked with many though throughout my career. I always try to present the item as it is in the photos.
Mihrab (Prayer Niche) Design: The central stepped column forming a pointed arch represents the mihrab, pointing toward Mecca, characteristic of traditional Islamic prayer rugs.
Anatolian Tribal Motifs: The border and inner fields contain highly symbolic geometric motifs.
Elibelinde (hands-on-hips female figures symbolizing fertility).
Koçboynuzu (ram’s horns representing protection and power).
Amulets/Evil Eye patterns (Nazarlık) woven to ward off negative energy.
Weaving Technique: It uses a flat-weave tapestry technique (likely slit-weave), which creates distinct clean borders between solid blocks of color.
Color Palette: The vibrant palette of burnt orange, terracotta, purple, and charcoal brown indicates the use of hand-spun wool and traditional dyes.
