Buraq and Angels - Mughal Art Print - Eclectic Wall Art, Islamic Art This rich and colourful opaque watercolour in gold and ink is from the Diwan of Hafez (Anthology of Hafez), the most famous poetry book of the eponymous Persian Sufi master, with themes on faith, Divine love and spirituality. This copy was compiled in the late 19th century in Kashmir, and features Buraq (lit. "Lightning"), a mythical steed with a human head that in Muslim legend carried the Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Jerusalem, and also made a visit to heaven, in a single night. Buraq is surrounded by angels and a cherub in a starry night sky. The sun in gold is at starting to rise at the bottom, likely symbolic of the Dawn, which is a recurring motif in Islamic tradition. The original illustration was in excellent condition for its age and while the gold had darkened over time there was very little restoration required for this reproduction. However we have digitally enhanced the colours to more closely match their original vivid quality and have also added a border from another artwork in order to augment the piece. Digitally enhanced by Future Past Creations and printed on premium cotton textured fine art paper. All sizes refer to sheet size, and the prints have a white border for easy handling. We have taken care to preserve each image in its correct aspect ratio, so not every paper size is available across all listings. However feel free to contact us if you would like a custom size, and we will try to help. Our prints fit neatly into standard frames, or bigger if you use a mount. All our prints are either designed in-house or licensed. **SATISFACTION GUARANTEED OR YOUR MONEY BACK** DELIVERY INFORMATION We send out our artwork in sturdy packaging.
