Copeland Spode's Tower Blue Handled Cake Plate, English Blue and White Transferware, England
$38.00

Description
A beautiful handled cake plate in Copeland Spode's classic Tower pattern, in deep cobalt blue. The center shows a tranquil Italian landscape with an arched stone bridge and a tower, framed by tall trees and distant hills, with cattle and birds in the foreground. The scene is based on an engraving of the Bridge of Salaro near Rome, and the pattern was first introduced by Spode in 1814. A rich floral border surrounds the scene, and the plate is finished with a white gadrooned edge and ornate pierced scroll handles.
It's perfect for serving cake, cookies, or sandwiches at tea time. It's also a standout piece for a blue and white plate wall, a hutch display, or a Spode collection.
