Early Sunglow Corn is a hybrid variety that’s perfect for gardeners looking for an early harvest. Known for its vibrant golden color, this corn matures faster than other varieties and grows to a compact 4 feet tall, making it ideal for smaller spaces. The plants produce 6-7" ears of sweet, golden corn with excellent flavor. It's especially valued for its cold weather performance, allowing it to thrive in cooler conditions compared to other corn types.
Planting Instructions:
Corn is a warm-season crop, so it should be planted when the soil temperature reaches 55-65°F. Sow seeds 1" deep, 4-6" apart, in rows spaced 30" apart. Thin seedlings to 12" apart once they are 4-5" tall to encourage proper pollination. For a continuous harvest, sow every 2-3 weeks until early July.
Harvesting:
Harvest when the cobs are firm and the kernels are plump. To remove, twist and pull the ears from the stalk. Unhusked, the ears will stay fresh in the fridge for up to a week. Be sure to cook or refrigerate immediately for the best flavor.
