Fall Throw Vintage Khes Handloom Mudcloth Reversible Cotton Blankets, Hand Weave Couch Throw for Living Room, Unique handmade gift for her ‘Khes` is a floor spread and bed covering traditionally hand woven. Khes evolved centuries ago, during the Mughal period, to meet the demand of a cotton blanket for spring & Pre-winters. For generations women residing in the villages of Punjab have woven Khes as a part of their wedding trousseau, to take to their future homes as part of their “Dowry”. With bold, harmonic, geometric and imaginative color pattern; it is a requisite as a coverlet while resting. This particular piece is antique from Sind/Punjab from 19th century. It has a double weave pattern done by hand on a woodenloom with traditional motifs. It remains cool in summer and warm in winters. These are reversible throws with different color and designs. This collection of vintage antique Khes is a celebration of the rich and diverse heritage of the Punjab region. It is opulent and here to bring a new element to your spaces and remains a rare find. *** As the looms in those days were of smaller sizes, the spans of Khes were traditionally woven in pairs and stitched together. This particulars Khes has been stitched together in the middle during the production process by the artisans. Weaving technique- " The spinning wheel with gold nuts, Spin colors in my life, But Whenever I see it’ It reminds me of you and make me cry" Women during the evening time used to sit together and spin while singing songs. Khes weaving is originally a household craft exclusively done by women. A girl is taught to weave by an elder woman. A girl is taught to weave by an elder woman so that she can carry forth the traditional practice. It is a thick cotton double cloth made on handloom. Uses- The piece can be used as throws for your sofa, bed, or couch; a perfect addition to any space. These can also be used as blankets and bedcovering. Moreover, Khes can be used as textiles for making robes, skirts, bags, cushion covers and much more. Washing Instruction- Handwash Only. In case of stains blot the stain and let it air dry.
