I have learned through experience with various customers that Etsy opts for the USPS Priority Mail (1 – 3 days) when they compute the shipping charges for this item. Because of the size of the box I need to ship it in, it exceeds 22 inches in length, and is greater than 1 pound, a lesser expensive, but still good option for shipping is USPS Parcel Select Ground (2 – 9 days), which in most cases is at least half the cost of the rate for Priority Mail. Unless you tell me to do otherwise, I will choose the USPS Parcel Select Ground option for shipping, and will refund you the difference via the Etsy payment system on the day that I ship your order. In addition, combined shipping is available for additional orders made at the same time when safe to do so, and I will return any savings to you via Etsy’s payment system. GEORGIA TOTTO O'KEEFFE, AMERICAN ARTIST, (November 15, 1887 – March 6, 1986): O’Keeffe was an American artist, and was best known for her paintings of enlarged flowers, New York skyscrapers, and New Mexico landscapes. She has been recognized as the “Mother of American modernism.” She began her serious formal art training in 1905, but felt constrained by her lessons that focused on recreating or copying what was in nature. In 1908, unable to fund further education, she worked for two years as a commercial illustrator, and then spent seven years between 1911 and 1918 teaching in Virginia, Texas and South Carolina. During that time, she studied art during the summers, and was introduced to principles and philosophies espousing created works of art based upon personal style, design, and interpretation of subjects. This caused a major change in the way she felt about and approached art. Alfred Stieglitz, an art dealer and photographer, held an exhibit of her works in 1916. Over the next couple of years, she taught and continued her studies. She moved to New York in 1918 at Stieglitz's request and began working seriously as an artist. They developed a professional relationship; he promoted and exhibited her works, and a personal relationship that led to their marriage in 1924. O'Keeffe created many forms of abstract art, including close-ups of flowers. O'Keeffe and Stieglitz lived together in New York until 1929, when O'Keeffe began spending part of the year in the Southwest, which served as inspiration for her paintings of New Mexico landscapes and images of animal skulls. Georgia O'Keeffe remained independent from shifting art trends and stayed true to her own vision, which was based on finding the essential, abstract forms in nature. With exceptionally keen powers of observation and great finesse with a paintbrush, she recorded subtle nuances of color, shape, and light that enlivened her paintings and attracted a wide audience. Her primary subjects were landscapes, flowers, and bones, explored in series over several years and even decades. The images were drawn from her life experience and related either generally or specifically to places where she lived. After Stieglitz’s death, she lived permanently in New Mexico at Georgia O’Keeffe Home and Studio in Abiquiu, New Mexico, about an hour north of Santa Fe, until the last years of her life when she lived in Santa Fe. In 2014, O'Keeffe's 1932 painting, “Jimson Weed” sold for $44,405,000, more than three times the previous world auction record for any woman artist.
