Description

Can anyone ever have enough fresh Basil? The easy answer to that is NO! Italian Large Leaf Basil seeds produce a classic, highly productive, sweet basil favored worldwide. This variety is celebrated for its vigorous growth, large, smooth cup-shaped dark green leaves, and a sweet, slightly spicy flavor profile. Its a must-have for Italian cuisine and pesto lovers. This heirloom variety is a sun-loving plant that needs a minimum of 6-8 hours of direct sunshine daily to grow well. Italian Large Leaf Basil is considered the ultimate pesto basil due to its tender leaves and potent sweet aroma. Its large leaves make it easy to harvest and use in a variety of dishes, including Caprese salad, pasta sauces, fresh on pizza or simply layered on sandwiches. The leaves freeze well when blended into a paste with olive oil, or they can be dried for later use in cooking. In the garden, basil is an excellent companion plant believed to help deter pests from tomatoes and other vegetables. Germination: Basil seeds germinate quickly and reliably, generally sprouting within 5 to 10 days after sowing. Sow seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the expected last frost. Sow them shallowly, only 1/4 inch deep. Light is helpful for germination. Transplant outside after all danger of frost has passed. Non GMO.
