J&G Meakin Romantic England Blue Transferware Plates Set | Haddon Hall, Penshurst Place (Set of 4)

A little tour of Romantic England in blue and white. This coordinated set of four vintage J&G Meakin Romantic England plates features two historic English estates, each framed in the same richly detailed cobalt blue floral and berry border. The set includes: * 2 dinner plates, approx. 10” — Haddon Hall, Derbyshire * 2 side / dessert plates, approx. 7” — Penshurst Place, Kent The Haddon Hall plates depict the historic Derbyshire manor overlooking its stone bridge, while the smaller Penshurst Place plates feature the celebrated Kent estate surrounded by trees and grazing deer. Each piece is made in England in English ironstone and carries a scene-specific Romantic England backstamp. The Haddon Hall mark even includes a brief note about the estate’s history, while the Penshurst Place mark identifies the house as dating to the 13th century. The rich blue transfer decoration, softly scalloped edges and traditional English landscape scenes make these especially lovely for a blue-and-white collection, cottage table, plate wall or layered vintage tablescape.
