Necklace and Earrings Set, Red Ombre Beads, Western Germany, Vintage Estate Find

This is a beautiful double-strand, chunky, cut, faceted, beaded demi-parure set that includes a necklace and clip-on earrings. The beads are graduated sizes, with the larger sizes in the middle, getting smaller at the ends. They are gorgeous shades of deep red, with an AB-type, iridescent sheen on some of the beads that glimmer with shades of pink and gold, depending upon how they catch the light. The beads appear to be made of Thermoset (plastic). The necklace combines these faceted beads in a double strand of matching beads that measures 17 inches in total length, including the extender chain. Each strand is attached to a gold tone metal decorative holder. The coordinating round earrings combines these same elements, with a large bead in the center, medium beads surrounding it, and smaller beads around the circumference, and are set in gold-tone metal. The necklace has a shepherd’s hook closure and a 2 ½-inch length of additional beaded extender chain, so that it can be somewhat adjustable in length, finished at the end with a larger round faceted bead. The earrings are signed with maker’s marks, MADE IN WESTERN GERMANY. The necklace is unmarked, but certainly part of the set. It was not unusual at this period of time for sets like this to come with paper tags or on a placard or in a box, that would have been removed or discarded by the original owner. I purchased this set as part of an estate from a woman who owned an antique store and was a collector of vintage jewelry, purses and artwork for her entire life. I believe it is from the 1960s. MEASUREMENTS (approximately): • Necklace length (from end to end, in total): 17 inches in length • Necklace center section shorter beaded length: 13 ½ inches • Necklace center section longer beaded length: 15 ¼ inches • Necklace extender beaded chain length: 2 ½ inches • Earrings: 1 inch in circumference, ½ inch in depth CONDITION: Very good vintage condition. There are no missing beads or jewels. All the beads have retained their luminescence, sparkle and beauty. The necklace closure is in good working condition. The clip-on backs function well. The only thing to note is age-appropriate wear and darkening of the metal on the back of the earrings. This is a vintage set, which is now at least 60 years old, and has been gently used. I have done my best to describe it, but it is possible that a small defect could have escaped my notice.
