Description
Hand Painted Winking Old Man Toby Mug, Made in Occupied Japan
This charming Toby mug shows a cheeky old gentleman with a sly wink, a crooked grin, and bushy black eyebrows. He wears a black brimmed hat, a green coat, and a pink bow tie, and his rosy, hand-painted face is full of character. The black-and-cream handle rises from the brim of his hat, in the classic style of English Toby jugs.
The base is stamped "Made in Occupied Japan." That mark was used only on Japanese exports during the Allied occupation after World War II, which makes it a sought-after mark for collectors. At 5 inches tall, he's larger than many Occupied Japan Toby mugs. He's a fun addition to a Toby jug collection, a vintage barware shelf, or a man cave, and he'd make a great Father's Day gift.
