===== Why this insertion? ===== About one month ago I had the idea to create a little astrolabe for one of my dearest friend. his girlfriend is an astronomy geek and I thought that a personalized astrolabe could be an original present for him to give her. So I started designing the product and, here you see the final product! After having realized this first version for my friend, I still had all the digital engraving files that could be used to create more astrolabes, so I thought: "Why not to offer the same service online? Given the fact that I already have an etsy shop?" And that's what I'm doing, I hope you will purchase my original svg and png files, because they truly costed me a lot of work and dedication! ===== What advantages do I offer over competition ===== -My service offers the greatest degree of personalization, I in fact can let my customer choose both the names to be engraved, the location and the eventual map projection for the location you pick up and even a personalized message to write on the back. All these messages will be written by hand by me, both in cursive or in medieval script, as you wish. And then digitalized into a svg file that you can add on your Astrolabe! -most of the astrolabes that you can find by other vendors lack in terms of artistic value, in fact those are mainly created exclusively with a digital graphic software and the numbers and writings are clearly machine generated, on the other hand, each writing that you see on my astrolabe, from the zodiacal ring to the degree marks, from the calendar rings to the various rulers, has been created BY HAND on a piece of paper with pencils and nib, and that gives the product a more human pleasing aesthetic. The only part almost completely generated by a machine is the plate, since I can't possibly draw each of them by hand. -My astrolabe is especially designed for a gift to a beloved person, in fact the rete is shaped like two "infinite" symbol (the 8-shaped one) crossing together to form two hearts. ===== What advantages does competion offer over me ===== -Some astrolabes sold by other companies do include a little wooden stand in order to better display the device. Mine does not include any form of stand, but you can hang it on a wall quite easily. for obvious reason I didn't include ant wooden peg or brass insert that is functional to the astrolabe, although you can use a srew to hold the pieces together.
