Ümmü'l-Gazâ is a facsimile reproduction of the Ottoman Empire's first written work on firearms, authored by Bayramoğlu Ali Ağa, the second leader of the Gunner Corps. Estimated to have been written toward the end of Sultan Ahmed III's reign (1718-1730), this illustrated 18th-century manuscript offers a rare window into Ottoman military technology and technique through detailed drawings and explanations in Ottoman Turkish. This 200-page soft-cover edition reproduces the original manuscript held at the Topkapı Palace Museum, including an introductory essay on Islamic and Ottoman weapon history by Prof. Dr. Salim Aydüz.
