The classic three-piece outfit of Pakistan and India: a long kameez with side slits and a front keyhole neckline, a full salwar gathered into ankle cuffs, and a flowing dupatta. PATTERN TYPE Hybrid pattern: the neckline and its facings print at full size; the kameez, sleeves, salwar legs, cuffs and dupatta are simple shapes you draft on kraft paper with the measurements provided. The A0 file gives the salwar legs at full size if you prefer. LEVEL AND TIME Intermediate. About 6 to 8 hours for the three pieces. SUGGESTED FABRICS - Kameez: cotton lawn, cambric, viscose, light linen - Salwar: the same, or plain cotton - Dupatta: chiffon, georgette, cotton voile, organza - Avoid stretch fabrics, and thick or stiff fabrics for the salwar Fabric needed (140-150 cm wide): kameez about 3.05 to 3.15 m, salwar 2.25 m, dupatta 2.30 m (at least 100 cm wide). YOU WILL ALSO NEED 3 cm elastic (0.70 to 0.95 m), light fusible interfacing (0.30 m), 1 small button, matching thread, basic sewing tools. Optional: lace or trim for the hems.
