Thalassa - Greeting Card

Thalassa, Tethys, Oceanus, Oceanic nymphs, sirens, gods and goddesses of the sea and fresh water as well as Zodiac water signs all resonate within this painting. The abstract imagery of the metallic blue and white waves as the sea goddess’ hair were inspired by the landscapes and lore of Brazil. The bottom right hand corner of the card shows the profile of a beautiful sea goddess’ face, her gold nath (nose ring chain) likens itself to a small crescent moon hugging her nose. Two large turquoise jellyfish float in the air above her and the tumultuous rolling waves, floating towards the left side of the black card. Two small harlequin ladies in red jumpsuits and tasseled hats swim beside the jellyfish, little bubbles trail in front of their mouths. The background of the card is painted with five different shades of grey and black wavy stripes.
