Description

Grow the legendary Tomato "Delicious", the heavy-hitting heirloom that held the world record for the largest tomato for over 28 years! If you are looking to grow massive, award-winning fruit in your vegetable garden, this variety is the undisputed champion of the "big red beefsteak" category. *World Record Heritage: Famous for producing enormous red fruit, often weighing 1-2 lbs., with some specimens reaching over 7 lbs. under ideal conditions. *Superb Flavor: Unlike many giant varieties that can be watery, "Delicious" lives up to its name with a rich, classic tomato tang and a high solids-to-juice ratio. *Meat and Texture: Features thick, solid flesh with very small seed cavities, making it the perfect "slicing" tomato for sandwiches and burgers. *Crack Resistant: Bred specifically to be more resistant to skin cracking than other large heirloom beefsteaks. Growing Specifications: *Type: Indeterminate (vining); requires sturdy staking or heavy duty cages to support the weight of the massive fruit. *Maturity: 77-90 days from transplanting. *Sun Exposure: Full sun (8+ hours per day) *Germination: start seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before the last frost. Sow seeds 1/4 inch deep in a good seed starting mix. Keep soil moist through germination which should take between 7 and 14 days. Transplant outside after all danger of frost has passed. PRO-TIP: If you are aiming for record-breaking size, prune your plant to a single main stem and allow only one or two fruits to develop per cluster.
