Vintage 1980s ULTRA RARE Designer Womens High Waisted Black Supple Soft Leather Motorcycle Pants/ Charivari New York/ Size 8 27”w 32.5” ins

I had no idea what these leather pants were before I sat down to do some research. These are from a now-defunct boutique on the upper west side of Manhattan called Charivari. They operated from the mid sixties to the late 90s, and were pioneers in bringing avant garde fashion to NYC. A young Marc Jacobs designed for them! And yes, I discovered these pants in rural Wisconsin, if you can believe it! I have searched and searched the internet and there are a few Charivari pieces for sale at the moment, but they’re all shirts and ties. Anyway, the pants themselves are HAWT! Slim, straight slightly tapered legs with a subtly edgy diagonal paneled construction in front bisecting the knees, they look like a hybrid of classic 5-pocket jeans and motorcycle pants. The zipper is a heavy-duty motorcycle clothing type zipper. Hardware is pewter-toned with a smooth, flat fly button. Back pockets feature iconic jeans-style arcuate stitching. The pants are fully lined in a black fabric that I’ll guess is an acetate lining, but could also be nylon or a blend. The pants are in excellent vintage condition with no flaws to note. Swoon!!!!!!
