Vintage Henriot Quimper Faience Bowls – Hand Painted Breton Folk Art, Personalized Set

A beautiful pair of authentic vintage Henriot Quimper lug bowls — the iconic Bol Breton — hand painted with a traditional Breton folk figure in the classic Quimper style. These are the real thing. Each bowl is fully hand painted by a Quimper artisan and signed “Henriot – Quimper – France” on the base, confirming authenticity. The speckled gray rim and side handles are signature details of this beloved form, which has been produced continuously in Brittany since the 17th century. The exterior features handwritten personalization — a cherished French tradition. In Brittany, it is customary for grandparents to gift a personalized Bol Breton to a new grandchild, with the child’s name painted by hand. These bowls carry that history. The personalized names have faded with age, giving these pieces a soft, worn character that speaks to genuine use and provenance. They are wonderful as display pieces rather than active personalized gifts. Henriot Quimper has been producing handmade faience in Quimper, France since 1685 — every piece made and painted entirely by hand, entirely in-house.
