Vintage Paragon Teacup Saucer | Yellow Gold Rose Fine Bone China, England

A wonderfully ornate vintage Paragon fine bone china teacup and saucer, made in England and decorated in a soft primrose yellow with lavish gold ornament and beautifully detailed pink roses and tiny blue flowers. This is one of those teacups that rewards a closer look. The softly fluted saucer features an elaborate repeating gilt scroll-and-garland design surrounding a central bouquet of pink roses and blue forget-me-not-style flowers. The coordinating footed cup repeats the gold decoration around its exterior, while a second floral bouquet is tucked inside the cup opposite the handle. Gold trim finishes the rim, handle and pedestal foot. The underside bears the Paragon Fine Bone China, England backstamp with the Royal Warrant: “By Appointment to Her Majesty the Queen — China Potters.” The cup also carries the hand-applied number 6136, believed to be the Paragon pattern/decorator number for this design. A beautiful example of mid-century English fancy china, likely dating to approximately the 1950s–early 1960s.
