Salt glazing is a historical process that involves throwing granulated salt into a kiln while firing pottery. As the salt melts, it forms a glossy glaze on the clay. This simple technique has been effective in sanitizing pottery to avoid sickness. Salt glazing was most popular during the 17th and 18th century. *Pretty, Not Perfect: This vintage find is pre-owned.
