Description

Wonderful Vintage/Antique Chinese Porcelain Canton Famille Rose Medallion Finely Decorated Bowl Vase, early to mid 20th century – circa 1920s - 40s. Beautifully decorated Rose Medallion vase with detailed imperial garden scenes with flowers, amazing butterflies are part of the pattern on the sides. Rose Medallion is the pattern with the widest variations in forms, pattern, and quality. Rose Medallion exhibits the use of gold to highlight details and finer, more realistic details on the persons, vines and butterflies. This shining piece is all hand painted/decorated. Measures 5.5” tall and 2.5 inches across the opening and the base is 3.1” across. The piece is 6” around the widest part of the vase. The item displays hand painted Oriental scenes and oriental ornament motif on all sides of the vase with main panoramic scenes in imperial garden. The scenes are hand painted with enamels. MARKED TO BASE WITH RED PAGODA “Made in China ” SEAL This piece bears the red seal and Chinese characters mark on the bottom. Red pagoda mark on the back, is believed to be a rare pattern as we have not been able to find details about this mark. We believe it is the Nanjing Porcelain Pagoda and that these date prior to 1949. (Around 1890 until c. 1920 all Chinese items that were to be imported into the US was required to be marked with the word "CHINA" as the country of origin (U.S. Stamp Act of 1894), after 1920 the “Made in China” words were required.) CONDITION The porcelain is very good vintage condition, with no chips, cracks, repairs and noticeable flaws. May have some minor imperfections due to its hand made nature, but none obvious. NORMAL VERY SLIGHT SIGNS OF WEAR TO GILDING AND ENAMELS COMMENSURATE WITH AGE. Ready for Display, Enjoy!
