📘 Copper Cookware Use & Care Guide – For First-Time Users
Copper is a healthy, durable material that can last a lifetime with the right care.
Below you’ll find a detailed guide to help you use your new pots safely and beautifully.
⸻
1. Before First Use
• Wash your pot with warm water and a mild dish soap.
• Use a soft sponge only; do not use metal scrubbers or harsh cleaners.
• After washing, dry it completely to avoid water stains.
⸻
2. Do NOT Use a Dishwasher
• Copper cookware should never be put in the dishwasher.
• The strong chemicals, salt, and high heat of dishwashers can damage, darken, or dull the copper surface.
⸻
3. When Cooking on the Stove
• Never heat the pot empty.
• Always add oil, water, or food before turning on the heat.
• Since copper conducts heat very quickly, medium heat is ideal.
• When exposed to heat, the outside of copper may turn reddish, purple, or darker in some areas.
This is completely normal and is the natural reaction of real copper.
⸻
4. Storing Food
• After cooking, please do not leave the food inside the pot for long periods.
• Copper pots should not be used as storage containers.
• Before placing food in the refrigerator, transfer it to a separate storage container.
This protects both the pot and the flavor of your meal.
⸻
5. Daily Cleaning
• Warm water + a soft sponge is enough.
• Always dry your pot thoroughly after washing.
⸻
6. Natural Ways to Shine Your Copper
Over time, copper may darken—this is completely natural.
If you want to brighten it again, you can use the following home methods:
A) Natural Home Methods
• Lemon + Salt:
Cut a lemon in half, sprinkle salt on it, and gently rub the copper surface.
Rinse and dry completely.
• Vinegar + Salt:
Mix vinegar with salt and rub with a soft cloth.
• Baking Soda + Lemon:
Sprinkle baking soda on the surface, add a few drops of lemon, and gently scrub.
These methods are natural, chemical-free, and very effective.
B) Store-Bought Copper Polish
• You can also use copper polishing creams or wipes sold in supermarkets.
• These work well but may contain chemicals, so rinse thoroughly afterward.
⸻
7. For Tinned (Kalaylı) Copper Cookware
• It’s normal for the tin lining to become dull over time.
• Very high heat can shorten its lifespan.
• When the tin wears off, it can be easily renewed by a coppersmith and will look brand new again
WHY COPPER?
Copper is known, more than any other metal, for its ability to distribute heat evenly and conduct it quickly across its surface. It is therefore used worldwide as a highly efficient heat conductor and is particularly preferred for its ability to quickly bring water to boiling point (some pots / pitchers made of brass do not heat up, but they do not heat up), and some of our pots have brass handles to cool their touch. Our pots are made of thick 1 mm copper (almost twice as thick as the ones that look the same!) Easy to care for, you only need occasional cleaning with a soft, damp cloth. Plus, they look better and gain more character as you get older ... just like people!
The corrosive nature of the detergent damages the gloss of copper containers if they are machine washed.
It is subject to discoloration and corrosion on copper parts.
Copper Plates should be washed by hand,
Due to the structure of copper, bile becomes darker and loses its first day's color.
**** If you want your copper containers to be as bright as the day you bought them,
Try this method.
**** You can clean your copper pots with vinegar and salt.
First, drop some vinegar on a damp cloth and dip it in salt.
Then scrub until dirt and stains disappear.
Finally, rinse with water.
A Perfect Kitchen Instruction
*** How to use a copper pots?
In Copper Pans, we recommend that you add milk (2-3 cm) to cover the surface of the pan and heat it until it boils on low heat.
** Later, after the milk has cooled in the pot, it is rubbed all over the pot.
*** Then the pot should be washed with detergent water.
-Do not put empty containers in any oven or fire.
Use the product at low temperatures.
-Copper is an excellent heat conductor, you can keep the fire at the lowest temperature, feed without damaging the tin and consuming less energy.
- Stems are brass, words that will prevent your future hands from burning.
-Do not store food in pots, use it only for cooking and serving at the table.
Non-canned food will be preferred for cooking cornmeal porridge and caramel.
Care of Products
You can always use wooden and plastic bucket sets. Metal tools can damage the mold.
-Wash it by hand with a soft sponge and liquid detergent.
- Do not use scraper products / materials such as wires for cleaning.
-When the tin polish is finished, you need to re-tin it before using it again.
-High temperatures, salt, acidic foods can cause stains or color alloys, but this is not a manufacturing defect.
In addition, they do not affect kitchen function and hygiene.
You can dip it in salt and vinegar or lemon and salt to clean the outside of the copper.👍
